The YES (Young Europeans’ Seminar) is a unique yearly event, organised for YFU – Youth For Understanding students who just finished their exchange programme within a European country. Each year the are around 500 students and 100 volunteers participating at the YES, which consists of 5 days full of seminars, workshops, lectures, panel discussions and other activities in Werbellinsee, Germany. Its aim of the YES is to promote discussion of current issues in Europe and beyond.

The YES provides YFU students with an educational activity that enhances their exchange experience. It also encourages participants to understand themselves as young Europeans with responsibilities and opportunities in a changing independent world. In addition, the event wants to make participants aware that finishing their exchange year is not an end. It can be the starting point of a learning process in the field of intercultural understanding, democratic involvement, and social responsibility.

The topic of YES 2018 is: Time for peace. Act now.
This year, it is 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and therefore, we would like to explore and discuss the role that young people play in shaping peaceful societies, within and outside European borders. By conveying the message that peace is much more than the absence of armed conflict, we will encourage sharing and discussion on the concepts of unity and inclusion, as crucial elements to live together in peace.

The YES 2018 is organised by YFU Germany , YFU Serbia , YFU Turkey and YFU France. The YES is a seminar of EEE-YFU (European Educational Exchanges). EEE-YFU is the umbrella organisation for national YFU organisations in Europe and currently has 30 member organisations. Youth for Understanding is a non-profit youth exchange organisation, providing exchange programmes for 15 to 18 year old students in more than 50 countries world wide.
